The Online Social Network usage has been rapidly growing. The number of Facebook users around the world is now more than 620 million, equivalent to the country which has the third largest population. In Thailand, there are currently more than 8 million Facebook users. As well, the drastic growth of Smartphone usage is witnessed, resulting in that users can participate in the online social network anywhere anytime and various social groups have been created in the online society.
The right balance between "Privacy" and "Security" of Online Social Network usage is to be carefully set to prevent the new risks from new emerging threats which have been increasing due to the advancement of technology.
Therefore, it is a high priority for users to receive the knowledge and understand the implication of technology usage at both individual and organization level. Most importantly, the users must clearly understand both advantages and disadvantages of using Social Network and Smartphone in order to gain the possible maximum benefits from technology invested while to protect themselves from emerging threats which are getting closer even at fingertips.

With arrival of Social Network being widely and increasingly adopted as part of people’s daily life, it is foreseen that the collaboration among all parts in society will be getting more important (The Future is Social).
As such, these important seminars are aimed to help us better see and understand the power of social collaboration by applying the Social Network usage in Business environment while being aware of security concern of Social Network both Business and Individual usages.
Dh.D.Thanachart NumnondaEvery year, I had the opportunity to attend the largest information security seminar "RSA Conference" in San Francisco. For this year, "RSA Conference 2011" focused on several prominent topics related to "Social Network Security" and "Mobile Computing Security" in particular. Furthermore, the Gartner’s research on the "Top 10 Strategic Technologies" also highlighted two topics pertaining to "Social Networking", including "Social Analytics" and "Social Communication and Collaboration". In addition, such a significant technology as "Smartphone" and its implication is found in "Mobile Application and Media Tablets" topic. All those events indicate a global trend that is potentially moving toward these strategic technologies.
In Thailand, the number of Facebook users has taken a quantum leap increase from five millions in late last year to now closing nine millions. For business, a number of organizations have started using Social Network as a key strategy to promote their brand and expand their customer base by facilitating their customers to communicate with organizations and even to do financial transactions directly from customers’ PC/Notebook or Smartphone that is gaining more popularity.
Consequently, Social Network and Smartphone could be viewed as an invaluable true treasure trove of information. Not surprisingly, Social Network and Smartphone are so appealing to Cybercriminals to attack at both personnel and organization level by using new techniques such as "APT" (Advanced Persistent Threat) to spread malicious programs in the form of a Trojan horse, which can cause damages to the users as well as their families and organizations if users lack security awareness and take no precautions necessary to prevent the security threats and also lack the knowledge to understand the scams spreading on facebook, twitter or in the form of SMS/MMS sent via Smartphone
As such, i firmly believe that it is the right time for us to be "aware" and place a high priority on "security" concerning Social Network and Smartphone in use at whether personal or organization level. Especially, the due care must be exercised for users to know and be cautious of new threats and tricks from Cybercriminals that keep emerging and are embedded in the application of online connected world as if the dangerous landmines hidden in the minefield. Importantly, to avoid the adverse impact, the users must be equipped with the knowledge on how to protect themselves from the "Hi-tech" cybercrimes which are getting more complicated and target attacking the generic users at home and office as well as "Generation Y" users mostly still teenagers, including students as the future of country being at risk.
For this year "SNSCON 2011" and "MOBISCON 2011" seminars, the "ACIS" research team has gathered the useful information from "RSA conference 2011" and several sources to provide the audience with the insight update, analysis of future trend and hot topics on Social Network and Smartphone security being a "Hot Issue" for many organizations. And "Thailand Information security Association" or "TISA" association together with group of experts have jointly developed the guideline to help organization establish a proper policy to effectively control and manage the usage of Social Network and Wireless communication device such as Smartphone in a secure manner. The full analysis of "Social Network as a new platform" and Smart Phone is a new PC" is to be shared and discussed in these two days seminar.
I strongly "recommend" that all people being part of growing and exciting online connected world should never miss this great seminars.

ดร.ธนชาติ นุ่มนนท์"การใช้งานเครือข่ายสังคมออน์ไลน์ Social Network ขยายตัว อย่างรวดเร็ว จำนวนผู้ใช้ Facebook ทั่วโลกมีมากกว่า 620 ล้านคน รวมกัน เทียบเท่าประเทศที่มีประชากรมากเป็นอันดับสามของโลก ในประเทศไทยมีผู้ใช้ Facebook มากกว่า 8 ล้านคน รวมถึงการเติบโตในการใช้งาน Smartphone ซึ่งผู้ใช้สามารถเข้าร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเครือข่ายสังคมออน์ไลน์ได้ทุกที่ทุกเวลา เกิดการสร้างกลุ่มสังคมต่างๆ มากมายบนโลกออนไลน์ ความสมดุลของการ รักษาข้อมูลความเป็นส่วนตัว (Privacy) พร้อมกับการ ใช้งานอย่างปลอดภัย (Security) เพื่อป้องกันความเสี่ยงจากภัยสมัยใหม่ (New Risk from New Threats) ที่เกิดขึ้นตามความก้าวหน้าของเทคโนโลยี จึงเป็นประเด็นสำคัญ ที่ต้องให้ความรู้ความเข้าใจในการใช้งานทั้งเพื่อส่วนตัว และในระดับองค์กร ตลอดจนผู้ใช้ต้องเข้าใจทั้งคุณประโยชน์และโทษ ของการใช้งาน Social Network และ Smartphone เพื่อใช้เทคโนโลยีให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุด และขณะเดียวกันก็ต้องรู้วิธีป้องกันภัยร้ายต่าง ๆ ที่นับวัน จะอยู่ใกล้ๆ เพียง แค่ปลายนิ้ว"
ดร.รอม หิรัญพฤกษ์"เป็นประจำทุกปีที่ผมได้มีโอกาสเข้าร่วมงานสัมมนาด้าน Information Security ที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลก RSA Conference 2011 ที่กรุงซานฟรานซิสโก โดยหัวข้อเด่นๆของงานในปีนี้เน้นไปที่ประเด็นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับ Social Network Security และ Mobile Computing Security โดยเฉพาะ ซึ่งงานวิจัยของ Gartner เรื่อง Top 10 Strategic Technologies ก็พบว่ามี 
เรื่องที่เกี่ยวกับ Social Network อยู่ใน Top 10 ถึง 2 เรื่อง ได้แก่ Social Analytics และ Social Communication and Collaboration รวมถึงเรื่องที่เกียวกับ Smartphone ในหัวข้อ Mobile Applications and Media Tablets จึงเป็นการบ่งชี้ แนวโน้มว่าทั่วโลกกำลังให้ความสำคัญกับเรื่องนี้เป็นอย่างมาก
สำหรับประเทศไทยมีการเติบโตของผู้ใช้งาน Facebook แบบก้าวกระโดด จากปลายปีที่แล้วประมาณห้าล้านคน มาปัจจุบันเข้าใกล้ 9 ล้านคน ซึ่งองค์กร ส่วนใหญ่ เริ่มใช้ Social Network เป็นกลยุทธ์ด้านการตลาดที่สำคัญ ดังนั้น Social Network และ Smartphone จึงเปรียบเสมือนขุมทรัพย์ที่เต็มไปด้วยข้อมูลอันมีค่า จึงไม่แปลกที่เหล่ามิจฉาชีพจะหันมาพุ่งเป้าโจมตี Social Network และ Smartphone ของผู้ใช้งานส่วนตัวและองค์กรโดยอาศัยเทคนิคใหม่ๆ ในการแพร่กระจายโปรแกรมมุ่งร้าย ซึ่งสามารถสร้างความเสียหายให้กับผู้ใช้งานตลอดจน ครอบครัวและองค์กร หากผู้ใช้งานยังขาดความตระหนัก (Security Awareness) และไม่มีความระมัดระวังที่จะป้องกันภัยคุกคาม อย่างเพียงพอ อีกทั้งยังขาดความรู้ความเข้าใจในกลโกงของมิจฉาชีพที่แฝงมากับ Facebook, Twitter หรือ อาจถูกส่งมาในรูปแบบ SMS และ MMS ผ่านทาง Smartphone
ผมคิดว่าถึงเวลาแล้วที่เราจะต้อง ตระหนัก ให้ความสำคัญกับเรื่องความมั่นคงปลอดภัยในการใช้งานเครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ และ Smartphone ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการใช้งานส่วนตัวหรือการใช้งานในระดับองค์กร โดยเฉพาะภัยร้ายใหม่ๆ ที่แฝงมากับการใช้งาน เพื่อให้รู้ เท่าทันเล่ห์เหลี่ยมของเหล่ามิจฉาชีพ และรู้วิธีการป้องกันเพื่อไม่ให้เราตกเป็นเหยื่ออาชญากรรม Hi-Tech ที่นับวันจะสลับซับซ้อนมากขึ้น ทุกที และยังมุ่งเป้ามาที่ผู้ใช้ตามบ้าน พนักงานออฟฟิศทั่วไป รวมถึง Generation Y ที่ส่วนใหญ่ ยังเป็นวัยรุ่น ตลอดจนนิสิตนักศึกษา ซึ่งเป็นอนาคตของชาติก็อยู่ในกลุ่มเสี่ยงเช่นกัน"
ผมจึงขอ Recommend อย่างยิ่งยวดที่ทุกท่านไม่ควรพลาดงานสัมมนาดี ๆ เช่นนี้ครับ
